There are a considerable number of teenagers into drug and alcohol abuse in Georgia. Though there are treatment centers for treating teenage substance abuse in Georgia, these centers face several difficulties. The following are some of these difficulties.
1. One of the most important problems is the tender age and physical constitution of the persons. Due to their age, they will not find it easy to go through the difficult phases of the treatment, such as the detox treatments. At the same time, it will not be possible to lead them through detox with the medication that is generally used because most medications used for detoxification in Georgia, such as methadone used in heroin treatment, are not suitable for young people.
2. The second problem is that most of the drug and alcohol abuse conditions in these young people are deeply emotionally bound. They might have taken up these addictions as an answer to some or the other emotional condition. Such as, a young person might have consumed alcohol when depressed and then it blew into a full-blown addiction. When this happens, it becomes difficult to detach the young people from their addictions because they make a strong emotional condition between their mental preoccupations and the substance of addiction.
3. Thirdly, there is the problem of the addictions being quite intensive. This happens because these people have started with their addictions at a very young age. This makes it difficult to remove the substance from their bodies, especially since most medications cannot be used due to their young age.
