The family of the addicted person has an important role to play during his or her drug abuse treatment program in New Mexico. The family's involvement begins right from the first stage of the treatment program when the patient is being convinced to go through the recovery process and continues till the very end where the family is trained how to monitor the progress of the patient so that he or she does not fall back into the addiction.
The intervention phase is where the family involvement begins. An interventionist will guide the family on how to go about the complete process. He or she will bring some members of the family together and tutor them on how to motivate the patient for the treatment. Every rehab center in New Mexico is affiliated with an intervention program which guides families to go through this process.
Once the patient has been successfully introduced into a rehab center in New Mexico, the family will need to keep abreast of how the treatment process is progressing. They will need to continuously meet with the representatives of the center and find out how the patient is improving.
Some rehab centers have three day counseling sessions specially designed for the family of the patient. At these sessions, the family is trained on how to monitor the condition of the patient after he or she is out of the treatment center. The family intervention group is expected to attend these sessions. This is an important part of the relapse prevention phase of the rehab program.
